Downham is a family club, as shown by our fiercely contested annual "Fathers Vs Sons" fixture. The 2003 club captains were indeed a father and son. In that season, the Second X1 captain was former Charlton and Gillingham footballer, Colin Powell and his son, David, is our first team skipper. Downham enjoy a close relationship with Charlton Athletic Football Club, and our members include the former Addick's stars, Steve Gritt, Colin Powell, John Bumstead and Mark Penfold.

Downham positively encourages the addition of new members in all aspects of our club, and adult social membership starts from as little as £10 per season !
